Revolutionary bike manufacturer unveils three high performance luxury bikes to be raced at the sharp end of the professional cycling peloton by Britain’s ambitious ONE Pro Cycling team
9th December 2015: Factor Bikes, the luxury bike brand responsible for the iconic Aston Martin One-77 and Vis Vires bikes, has released initial details of three new high performance models that will be available to consumers in January 2016, and announced its partnership as the official bike supplier to Britain’s first ever Pro Continental racing team, ONE Pro Cycling.
The partnership sees the team racing the new generation of UCI-legal Factor Bikes bikes – the Factor One, Factor O2, and Factor One-S. Unlike the majority of bike brands, Factor Bikes' owns its own factory – with more than 20 years experience of making WorldTour-level bikes – and the new bikes have been developed with feedback from Factor Bikes owner and former Tour de France Green Jersey sprint competition winner, Baden Cooke, together with fellow former pro and Factor Bikes ambassador, David Millar (holder of leader’s jerseys in all three Grand Tours – the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a España). The sponsorship of ONE Pro Cycling will also see the team working directly with Factor Bikes on the development of new high performance bikes and equipment.
Owned by former England cricketer, Matt Prior, ONE Pro Cycling is the UK’s first ever Pro Continental cycling team. Following its first year, the team has been promoted from Continental to Pro Continental status for 2016 and has the ambition and drive to then progress rapidly to the pinnacle of the WorldTour and win the biggest races in the cycling world: the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a España.
Taking all that was learnt from the Vis Vires, the Factor One has been built for maximum stiffness and aerodynamic performance to deliver ONE Pro Cycling’s sprinters a significant advantage.
Created to be the most aerodynamic bike on the market, it features Factor Bikes’ unique integrated fork, stem and bar together with the iconic split-downtube design which allows turbulent air from the front wheel to go through – rather than around – the downtube to deliver a meaningful aerodynamic advantage.
An all new model, the Factor O2 is the most versatile of the three new bikes and will be ONE Pro Cycling’s bike of choice for bumpy, cobbled European Classic races and mountain stages. It’s incredibly light (6.9kg with an Infocrank power meter crankset) yet with a phenomenal stiffness to weight ratio.
The O2 includes the same innovative no-compromise approach to bike design, construction and finishing that all Factor Bikes bikes are lavished with to ensure that it delivers an exceptional, high performance ride.
An aero bike with the same dual downtube design of the Factor One but with a standard internal fork to allow the fitting of standard stem and bars to fine tune fit for riders on the extremes of bike fit.
“We make great bikes – not good bikes,” explains Baden Cooke on Factor Bikes’ design philosophy, “We don’t compromise and don’t look to eke out more margin. We only put in the very best materials, using the best design and manufacturing expertise in our wholly owned production facility together with exceptional fit, finishing and attention to detail.”
Consumers will be able to purchase the new models in early 2016 direct from factorbikes.com. Interested consumers should register their interest for pre-orders via enquiries@factorbikes.com.
Co-owner of Factor Bikes and former pro road racer Baden Cooke said of the partnership: “Here at Factor Bikes we are very proud of our partnership with ONE Pro Cycling and hope to grow with them all the way to the top of professional cycling. ONE Pro Cycling have a fresh, high tech and thorough approach to everything that they do which is in line with Factor Bikes’ core values.
“With Factor Bikes’ obvious British DNA we think that ONE Pro Cycling is the perfect fit and cannot wait to see our bikes in the Pro peloton. Ever since meeting Matt Prior and hearing about his vision and ambitions for his team, we knew that we had to be a part of this journey.”
Founder and CEO of ONE Pro Cycling Matt Prior said: “Right from the beginning of our relationship with Factor Bikes it was clear that our values and ambitions were the same. As a British team, we’re very proud to be partnering with a new and exciting British bike brand. The ability to work with Factor Bikes to develop equipment which will give us a performance edge is a unique opportunity that will help ONE Pro Cycling reach the top level of the sport.”
Factor Bikes ambassador and former pro WorldTour racer David Millar said: “I’m very proud to have contributed to Factor Bikes’ rapid progression from concept bike to racing machine. ONE Pro Cycling will be the first team in the world to race on Factor Bikes, and they offer the perfect partnership – a new team, a modern attitude with big plans for the future.”
