[Girona — 1 May 2026] — Factor Bikes today announces the launch of the Factor SARANA, a pivotal new addition to the brand’s growing line-up of cutting-edge gravel bikes. Engineered to redefine speed, control, and efficiency over the longest distances and across the most demanding mixed terrain, the SARANA is built for riders pushing the limits of modern gravel racing. Purposeful choices in carbon layup, geometry, and design language allow the SARANA to maintain speed and control in all situations.
At Factor, we’re looking at new categories and new segments. You have to be prepared to push the boundaries and take some risks. With SARANA, we focused on two critical elements: maintaining control when the terrain becomes unpredictable and enabling riders to stay fast and efficient over ultra-endurance distances. The result is a bike that thrives in the toughest races on the calendar.Graham Shrive, Factor Chief Engineer.
SARANA is engineered to excel where gravel riding is at its most demanding. Its advanced carbon layup is tuned to absorb high-frequency vibrations while maintaining lateral stiffness, allowing the bike to track confidently across washboard roads, loose gravel, and technical descents. The frame’s geometry works in harmony with the expansive 57 mm (2.2-inch) tyre clearance front and rear to deliver stability without dulling responsiveness.
A carefully sculpted front-end ensures an aerodynamic advantage and composure at speed while highlighting Factor’s elegant design language. This combination enhances rider confidence and reduces fatigue, enabling consistent performance even deep into long, punishing rides.
Perfectly complementing the SARANA and answering the needs of the modern gravel racer, the Black Inc FORTY SIX gravel wheelset exemplifies the efforts of Factor engineers and designers to push the boundaries in bike and equipment design. Built to take serious punishment, the wheels offer a 46 mm deep rim profile and aerodynamically shaped steel spokes to ensure the SARANA maintains speed on fast-paced gravel sections and paved transitions. Meanwhile, a generous 27mm inner rim width perfectly accommodates the SARANA’s 57 mm tyre clearance, providing a superior contact patch for enhanced traction.
At the heart of the SARANA is a geometry designed for sustained high-speed riding across variable terrain. Stack and reach proportions are tuned to maintain control through fatigue, allowing riders to stay low and efficient without collapsing posture. Subtle refinements to wheelbase and trail enhance stability on rough surfaces while preserving the agility required in competitive scenarios.
To enhance traction and absorb rough road vibrations, the SARANA introduces a leaf-spring seat-stay system. Dropped stays and a subtly offset seat tube create in-plane flex that smooths vibration while maintaining lateral drive. The seat tube offset also allowed our designers to maintain the 425 mm chainstays across all sizes. This solution keeps the rear end tight and combines with the 65 mm trail (tyre size dependent) to ensure sharp, responsive handling that belies the wide tyre clearance.
The carbon layup is directional: high modulus fibres channel power through the bottom bracket and chainstays, while intermediate layers manage fatigue and traction over rough terrain.
Factor’s engineers focused on the negative space to help dictate the SARANA’s form, enhancing the frame’s aero-efficiency. Relating directly to the principle and core concepts of the frame, the specially developed frame bag was made in collaboration with specialists, Post Carry. The SARANA’s head tube was deliberately designed as a short chord truncated airfoil to maximise the space/volume for the frame bag and aero-optimise it in the head tube wake. Made from water-resistant, lightweight material with welded seams and a waterproof zipper, the bag seamlessly bolts-onto the frame and has a reinforced base so it holds its shape even when fully loaded.
The SARANA features a high-performance carbon frame that strikes a refined balance between compliance and stiffness, delivering both responsiveness and control on rough terrain. From the first prototypes onward, Factor Racing gravel privateer and 2025 Unbound XL winner, Rob Britton became both test rider and collaborator. Over months of riding in British Columbia, through heat, rain, altitude, and isolation, he pushed each iteration of the SARANA through the kind of punishment only real ultra events deliver. Every ride produced a set of numbers, but more importantly, a set of sensations that shaped the next version. Feedback was never about finding comfort, but control, especially after double-digit hours in the saddle.
Focused on ultra-endurance needs, the SARANA features a refined cockpit design, in-frame storage, practical mounting options, 1x-only drivetrain support with a maximum 52-tooth chainring, UDH and dropper post compatibility. The frame has also been specifically designed to support both a rigid and 30 mm suspension fork without altering the geometry or overall handling.
This is an incredibly versatile bike. There’s nothing you can’t do with it, especially if you can swap back and forth from the rigid to the suspension fork, like I do. It has a bunch of different personalities. Real highlights of the design are the tyre clearance, geometry, and compliance. It’s truly 2.2-inch (57 mm) and still has tons of room to clear mud. The geometry is incredible too. It handles so well and is such a stable bike, especially at high speed or on technical stuff. And then the frame has been designed to be incredibly compliant at the rear, with the super low seatstays. It introduces flex without feeling like you are riding a lifeless bike.Rob Britton, FACTOR RACING
From elite competition to ambitious personal challenges, the SARANA is Factor’s interpretation of what a true ultra-race bike should be. Its unique blend of control, speed, and endurance capability makes it the perfect partner for races like Transcordilleras and the Atlas Mountain Race, where terrain, distance, and elevation push both rider and machine to their limits.
It reflects the same instincts that drive every Factor: curiosity, precision, and the belief that speed is something to be felt as much as measured. It complements our gravel range and redefines how far performance can go.
The Factor SARANA comes in two elegant graphics, CYAN BLUE and PRISMATIC GOLD. The distinct colour schemes resonate equally well with the wide-open spaces and with the deep backcountry where SARANA will be most in its element. The SARANA is now available through select Factor retailers and at factorbikes.com.
